Crowns and Bridges

Bromley Smiles specialises in crowns and bridges dental treatments. Crowns and bridges are two of the most common dental restorations that are used to repair damaged or missing teeth. They serve different purposes but work together to restore not just the appearance but also the function of a tooth. They have to be cemented onto your natural teeth or dental implants, which makes them a permanent solution to your dental problems.

what to expect

Crowns

A dental crown, sometimes called a “cap,” is a prosthetic restoration that covers the entire visible surface of a damaged tooth. Crowns are custom-made to match the shape, colour, and size of your natural teeth, making them virtually unnoticeable. At Bromley Smiles, we always prioritise your confidence and the functionality of your teeth. Our porcelain crowns are tailored to match your teeth perfectly to make them look discrete and visually pleasing.

Bridges

As the name suggests, a dental bridge bridges the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It consists of two or more crowns on either side of the hole (called abutment teeth) with a false tooth (pontic) in between. The abutment teeth serve as anchors for the bridge, while the pontic fills in the gap. With this effective procedure, you’ll have a long-lasting solution that enhances the look of your teeth as well as your oral health. The team here at Bromley Smiles are ready to restore your smile with a dental bridge.

What Does The Procedure Involve?

You might be wondering how the crowns and bridges procedure takes place. For the first step of the procedure, your dentist reduces your natural teeth size or implants to make space for the crown. We will then take an impression of your teeth so that your crown or bridge can be moulded to accurately and comfortably fit the size of your teeth. Once your crown or bridge has been created your dentist can then secure it to your teeth.

Why are Crowns and Bridges Important?

There are several reasons why crowns and bridges may be necessary for your oral health, including:

To restore function: Missing teeth can make it difficult to chew and speak properly, which can impact your overall health.
To maintain facial structure: When a tooth is missing, the jawbone may begin to deteriorate, leading to changes in facial shape and sagging skin.
To prevent shifting of teeth: When there is a gap in your smile, adjacent teeth may shift into the empty space, causing misalignment and bite issues.
To improve aesthetics: A missing or damaged tooth can have a significant impact on your confidence. Crowns and bridges can restore your smile and improve self-esteem.
